🏆 Competition Ruleset
The competition begins with Gi divisions in the morning, followed by all cash prize Gi absolute divisions. The event concludes with No-Gi divisions in the afternoon. A detailed event schedule will be released during the week leading up to the competition.
All matches will be 5 minutes long
Competitors can win matches through the following methods:
- Submission: Forcing the opponent to tap out using a joint lock or choke as per IBJJF guidlines.
- Points: Accumulating points for takedowns, guard passes, and sweeps. Advantages and Penalties are awarded as per IBJJF guidlines.
- Decision: In the event of a tied score the referee will decide the winner based on who they consider the victor.
- Disqualification: If an opponent breaks multiple rule infractions or commits a serious infraction. For more info refer here.
We highly encourage submissions to enhance the competitive spirit and skill development of our athletes. To promote this, we offer a Submission of the Day Award worth £150 and provide free entry to the next event for the competitor who secures the best submission.
Our championship features both Gi and No-Gi competitions to cater to different grappling styles. We allow Gis of any colour but the correct colour belt must be worn, and No-Gi attire must be appropriate for competition.
We adhere to the official IBJJF weight classes for both Gi and No-Gi competitions to ensure fair and balanced matches. Please refer to our Age and Weight Divisions page or use our Weight Class Tool if you're unsure of your category.
Absolute Division (Gi Only):
- Men: Divided at 75kg
- Women: Divided at 65kg
If we cannot find an opponent in your division and you choose not to merge into another, we will issue a refund after the registration closing date. Refunds are not provided for injuries or if you are unable to attend the event. However, if you notify us at least two weeks before the event, we can offer you a credit towards a future event.
